New Doctor

I thought this place was supposed to be good reading the prior review, written in 07. Marketplace Dental used to be run by Dr. Garren, so I hear. Well apparently she's no longer there and they have a new doctor, Dr. Shock. They never sent out a notice that they were changing doctors, I assume they expected all the patients to take it in stride. This was kind of upsetting to me since I felt like I was just being handed over. Secondly, I feel like the staff there was not very patient focused. A few times I would ask a question only to find the person in the room with me had stepped out without giving me any kind of notice. I had no idea what was going on for most of the procedure. I felt like they didn't really care how I felt either.

I hadn't been to the dentist in three years simply because I was afraid to go to another one I didn't like. I'm so glad I went to Dr. Garren. She and her staff are very nice and do everything in their power to make sure you have a good experience. They're flexible with appointments, honest and straightforward about diagnosis, treatments, and cost. You don't feel like you're being pressured to have things done. They might ask if you're interested in certain things, but don't push anything, and they explain everything that's necessary and why. They listen to your concerns about insurance coverage and work with you on what to get done and when, and try to get an accurate estimate beforehand. What blew me away about this office was how they were so persistent, on their own, about getting my insurance to pay for deep cleaning treatments, saving me about $600 and countless hours of frustration if I'd tried to do it myself. They could have easily just billed me when insurance first denied the claim as "unnecessary," but instead they took it upon themselves to get the company to pay for it. I didn't ask them to do it or even know they could resubmit claims. They didn't even call me to say it had been denied, they just kept sending it back through with copies of x-rays, working with and explaining to the insurance co why the treatments were necessary, and over about 3 months, got my full 80 percent paid for. After I didn't hear anything, I called and they told me not to worry, they were in the process of getting it taken care of. I ended up happily paying a final $40 bill with no fees or extra cost associated with all the legwork. I've never heard of such personal, caring service from a dental office. They're usually so busy and rude, getting you in and out, getting all the procedures they can out of you, collecting your money, and getting the next person in. I can't recommend Dr. Garren and Marketplace Dental enough!
